In 2018, President Trump agreed to work on a $2 trillion infrastructure plan designed to fix America’s roads. One of the plan’s goals is also to repair and rebuild America’s bridges, which received a C+ grade in the American Society of Civil Engineers’ most recent Infrastructure Report Card. Overall, US infrastructure scored a D+, and the ASCE estimated in 2017 the country needs to spend $4.5 trillion by 2025 to improve its roads, bridges, dams, airports, and more.

Every state has at least one structurally deficient bridge, which the US Department of Transportation (DOT) defines as when one or more key bridge components (for example, the deck, superstructure, or substructure) is in “poor” condition. There are 178 million daily crossings on nearly 47,000 structurally deficient US bridges, according to the American Road and Transportation Builders Association.

According to the American Road and Transportation Builders Association, here are the most highly traveled, structurally deficient bridges — based on the highest number of components in poor or worse condition — in each state and Washington, DC.

The list is extensive and is really not important right now because the report only shows singular bridges in each state which they consider the worst. The real problem comes from a lack of action by our legislature for the safety of their citizens. The day a major bridge fell in Minneapolis I-35 everybody got really concerned but the injury was not a major disaster that time, what happens when this happens and major lost of lives occur. The finger pointing begins why not attack this problem now.
